The Show - The Legend of Twrch Trwyth
Ammanford Junior Gateway (AJG) charity supporting individuals with learning disabilities and their families, has successfully staged their performance of the 'Legend of Twrch Trwyth' at the Ammanford Miners' Theatre on July 14th 2008 before a packed audience.
Featuring a cast of 50, including AJG coordinators, volunteers, members of AJG’s Purple Dragon, Active Dragon Clubs, local PC’s Kevin Jones and Craig Roderick. The Legend of Twrch Trwyth was the story of how Prince Culhwch fell in love with Princess Olwen and had to capture the Twrch Trwyth (Wild Boar) and retrieve the comb and scissors from his head.
This adaptation of the story of Twrch also features elements of other fairy tales and children’s favourites such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Beauty and the Beast, The Wizard of Oz and Shrek.
The production was well received by the audience, who appreciated the individual performance of the cast.
After the show there were a few brief words from the AJG Campaign Officer Jonathan Jennings (who played the Wizard of Oz) and the Mayor of Ammanford, Cllr. Hugh Evans, who thanked both the crew and cast for all their hard work and efforts.
AJG would like to thank everyone who has supported them and their campaign for this year’s Learning Disabilities Week.
